AI Strategist

Role: AI Strategist

A leading Nordic financial services provider is seeking an experienced AI Strategist to support the production deployment and scaling of AI solutions. While internal technical expertise and development capabilities are at a strong level, the challenges lie in critical operational bottlenecks related to governance, cross-border architectural fragmentation, and complex regulation and compliance requirements. In this role, you will work closely with the organization's management and internal experts, building strategic blueprints, operational governance models, and compliance and risk management frameworks. The focus is not on hands-on coding, but on ensuring that innovative AI and agent solutions can be scaled safely and efficiently within a broad, regulated operating environment.

Start: June 2026

Duration: Ongoing / Indefinite (100% allocation for the first 3 months, after which allocation will be jointly reviewed based on need, e.g., to a 60% level)

Location: Helsinki (Hybrid - a few days a week at the office)

Tech-wise we're looking for:

• Deep understanding of financial sector regulations (e.g., GDPR, DORA, and especially the upcoming EU AI Act) to streamline risk assessments and compliance processes, shortening time-to-production from months to weeks.
• Experience in building operational AI Governance frameworks, including defining audit trails, ownership models, and monitoring systems for model drift and hallucination between business and IT.
• Ability to design modular AI solutions where the core logic is shared across the Nordics, but interfaces and local regulatory frameworks can be isolated into distinct building blocks within complex legacy systems.
• Ability to construct comprehensive ROI and business case frameworks for AI and LLM initiatives, taking into account infrastructure, token, and maintenance costs relative to realized efficiency gains or freed-up working hours.
• 10+ years of experience in IT and business development, with the most recent years heavily focused on data and AI strategies, LLM solutions, or demanding automation initiatives.

Soft-skills:

• Consultative, highly adaptive, and iterative approach—prioritizing agile and experimental development over rigid, pre-packaged frameworks.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills; ability to act as an accelerator and sparring partner for executive management and internal teams.
• Ability to balance a long-term strategic vision with practical, hands-on operational execution.

Other: Extensive experience in banking, insurance, or another heavily regulated industry is a prerequisite to thoroughly understand sector-specific risk management.
