Senior Embedded Software & GenAI Consultant

The team’s mission is to autonomously pilot and drive product development using AI agents (specifically Claude). The project focuses on developing a complex, mature embedded system (~8 years on the market) with existing technical debt, LoRa radio technology, IoT connectivity, and cloud interfaces.

The objective is to roll out a critical, well-specified core feature through an agentic development loop, refine AI-friendly specification practices, and improve release-gate quality assurance and test automation. This role requires an action-oriented practitioner who directly writes code and navigates hardware interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on Product Development: Develop and maintain a complex embedded system by applying AI tools (e.g., Claude) and agentic development loops directly within the codebase.
• Process & Specification Engineering: Refine AI-friendly specifications and develop integrated testing and quality assurance methods alongside software development.
• Knowledge Sharing & Culture: Share learnings, best practices, and the practical value of AI-assisted development across the team, with management, and potentially with other internal teams to prepare for broader upskilling initiatives.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work in tight feedback loops with internal domain experts, including test automation specialists and hardware engineers.

Qualifications and technical skills

• Embedded Software & Linux: Strong background in embedded systems engineering using C, C++, and Python.
• Yocto Project: Proven experience working with the Yocto platform and embedded Linux environments.
• Generative AI & Tooling: Deep practical experience with AI-assisted software development (e.g., Claude, LLM integrations, and agentic workflows).
• Hands-on Engineering Mindset: High motivation to solve hardware interface and complex stack challenges directly in code.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Knowledge of RTOS systems, LoRa radios, general IoT protocols, or hardware lab environments.
• Experience with test automation and QA frameworks in complex system architectures.
• Understanding of cloud interfaces (e.g., AWS) connected to embedded IoT devices.

Soft Skills & Mindset:

• Meticulous Craftsmanship: Strong focus on code quality, long-term maintainability, and thorough design without rushing execution.
• Pragmatic & Experimental: Ability to rapidly build Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and adapt smoothly to new AI-driven workflows.
• Clear Communication: Ability to explain complex AI-driven technical choices clearly to both team members and management.

• Project duration: Until the end of the year (with potential extension/upskilling phase budgeted for next year)
• Allocation: 100% (Full-time)
• Location requirements: Hybrid / On-site in Vantaa (presence required especially during onboarding and for R&D lab work)
• Language requirements: English required; Finnish is considered a strong advantage for on-site collaboration
