Role: Data Scientist — Assortment Optimization

This project focuses on optimizing product assortment and shelf-space decisions at the store level within the retail sector. The work involves leveraging existing demand forecasting models and optimization algorithms end-to-end, spanning initial current-state analysis, solution design, implementation, and pilot preparation.

Start: ASAP / As soon as possible

Duration: 3–6 months (estimated)

Location: Helsinki Metropolitan Area, Finland (Partially Onsite preferred; other locations negotiable)

Language: Finnish & English

Tech-wise we're looking for:

  • Applied data science and machine learning in production
  • Optimization problems and algorithm selection
  • End-to-end development (data gathering, implementation, validation, and deployment)
  • Experience building on top of existing demand forecasting models
  • Databricks on Azure

Soft-skills we're looking for:

  • Ability to translate business constraints into practical optimization logic
