Hands-on AI Architect
The customer is launching a new phase in their AI development strategy to streamline business processes, optimize managed services, and increase automation. The central initiative involves building a centralized Managed Service AI Engine capable of securely retrieving and combining data from multiple organizational sources to handle high volumes of customer delivery queries efficiently.
Additionally, the project aims to introduce automation to local area network (LAN) device configurations—leveraging device vendors' existing AI capabilities—and to properly scope and guide internal AI initiatives. The consultant will join an established team within the Network and Security unit and work within a multi-cloud environment where Google Cloud Platform (GCP) serves as the primary development framework.
Responsibilities
- Architectural Design: Plan, architect, and guide the development of the centralized AI engine and the LANops AI platform.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as a bridge between business needs and technical execution, collaborating closely with teams, technical consultants, and network experts.
- Solution Guidance & Guardrails: Evaluate internal AI ideas and prototypes, ensuring realistic scoping (e.g., leveraging existing GCP capabilities instead of unnecessarily building custom LLMs from scratch) to maintain cost and architectural control.
- Vendor AI Integration: Analyze and securely integrate device vendors' (e.g., Juniper) AI capabilities and APIs into the company's automation framework.
- Technical Argumentation: Provide clear, highly technical justifications and alternative directions to senior technical consultants when steering project architecture.
Qualifications and technical skills
- Core Architecture Expertise: Proven track record as an AI Architect with strong hands-on capabilities.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP); familiarity with Azure and AWS is a plus.
- Data Processing & Parsing: Ability to work with complex, unstructured datasets (such as ticket data and free-text fields) to parse and structure inputs for automation.
- Networking & Security Domain Knowledge (Bonus): Understanding of telecommunication networks, including WAN, LAN, and firewall/security solutions, is highly advantageous but not mandatory.
- Soft Skills: Excellent stakeholder management, strong consultative communication skills, and the assertive capability to validate, guide, or redirect technical concepts realistically.
Summary of the practicalities
- Project start time: ASAP (Realistically early June or late summer)
- Project duration: until end of 2026 + extensions likely (Current year budget secured)
- Allocation: 100%
- Location requirements: Hybrid work mode with occasional meetings in Tampere and Helsinki
- Language requirements: English required, Finnish optional (but considered an advantage)
