Backend Developer (Java)

A client within the gaming sector is on the lookout for a backend-oriented software engineer. The team takes pride in designing their implementations from scratch from the beginning, and operates in a GCP environment. The focus here is in high-availability backend-services that power large-scale consumer products.

Mandatory requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in backend development using Java, Scala, or Kotlin.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Spring Boot.
  • 3+ years of experience working with PostgreSQL (or other major relational databases).
  • Experience with Docker containerization and Kubernetes orchestration
  • Proficiency in Linux environment

Scored criteria:

  • Further experience with:
    • Java, Kotlin Typescript, PostgreSQL, Redis, SpringBoot, React, Nginx
    • Kubernetes, Terraform, Prometheus, Grafana GitLab,
    • Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Linux
  • Experience in developing and maintaining services in cloud environments.
  • Experience working as part of an agile DevOps team.
  • Proficiency in Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD) implementations.
  • Proficiency in designing, justifying, and implementing sustainable software architecture.
  • Experience and proficiency in the development and maintenance of business-critical services.
  • Ability to prioritize and incorporate data security as a core part of the development process.
  • Experience in Java, Scala, or Kotlin exceeding the 5-year minimum (max points for a total of 10 years)
  • Experience with PostgreSQL exceeding the 3-year minimum (max points for a total of 8 years)
  • Experience in developing solutions on GCP, AWS/Azure Kubernetes platforms (max points for a total of 5 years)
  • Experience with the following: Terraform, TypeScript, React, Redis, Prometheus.

Start: 15.6.2026 at the latest
Duration: 1 year + 2 x 6-month options
Location: Some on-site in Helsinki to be expected
Language: Finnish
