Data Engineer (Helsinki)

We're looking for a Data Engineer for our client in the retail sector. You'll be part of a talented team, working alongside data scientists, analysts, and engineers to build the backbone of the client's personalization and recommendation systems. You'll design, build, and maintain data pipelines, ensuring our data is clean, reliable, and ready to power amazing customer experiences across various retail channels.

Location: Helsinki, onsite about 3 days / week

Language: English (Finnish a plus)

Key Responsibilities:

• Data Engineering: Design and develop scalable and high-performance data pipelines to ingest, transform, and store data from various sources
• Data Platform Development: Contribute to building and designing the data platform, ensuring it’s robust and efficient
• API Development: Design and build APIs that deliver personalized content to client's customers across different customer-facing channels
• Data Science Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists to understand their needs and translate them into technical solutions
• Team-building: Foster a collaborative environment within a cross-functional team and work with talented individuals from data science, analytics, and software engineering backgrounds
• Innovation: Stay up-to-date with the latest data technologies and trends, and propose innovative solutions to complex data challenges
• Technology Keywords: Python, AWS, IaC, bring your expertise on tech decisions

Required Skills and Experience:

• Strong proficiency in Python
• Experience with large-scale data processing technologies and transformation concepts
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, especially AWS
• Solid understanding of data modeling, data lake formation
• Experience with API development and RESTful principles
• Experience working in agile environments, with familiarity with DevOps tools and practices
• A genuine interest in data and a drive to learn new technologies
• A strong problem-solving mindset, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative attitude

Nice to have:

• Interest or experience with machine learning and data science
• Proficiency in additional programming languages
• Pragmatic mindset in problem-solving
• Team leadership skills in an agile environment
• Experience with data visualization tools
• Ability to work at the Helsinki office at least three days a week
