Our client is looking for a Windows System Administrator or Engineer responsible for managing the servers and services listed in their current workload.

Typically they look for individuals with the following qualifications, skills, and experience:

  • Operating System Expertise: Strong proficiency in Windows Server operating systems, particularly Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 as mentioned in the task list. Familiarity with both Standard and R2 versions of Windows Server is crucial.

  • Remote Desktop Services (RDS) Knowledge: Proficiency in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Remote Desktop Services, including Remote App deployment and Connection Broker setup.

  • Application Server Administration: Experience in setting up and maintaining application servers, including expertise in Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and Exchange 365.

  • Database Management: Proficiency in managing databases.

  • Server Security: In-depth understanding of server security best practices, including firewall configuration, user access control, and group policies.

  • Networking Skills: Knowledge of networking fundamentals to ensure proper connectivity between servers and clients, including expertise in Lenovo Blade Center hardware, Lenovo Storage, and NetApp.

  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting: The ability to proactively monitor server health, diagnose issues, and efficiently perform troubleshooting.

  • Server Virtualization: Familiarity with server virtualization technologies like Hyper-V or VMware if virtualization is in use.

  • Backup and Recovery: Proficiency in implementing backup and disaster recovery solutions to protect server data and configurations.

  • Scripting and Automation: Experience with scripting languages like PowerShell for automating tasks and system administration.

  • Documentation: Strong documentation skills for maintaining server configurations, changes, and procedures.

  • Team Collaboration: Effective communication and collaboration skills, as managing multiple servers often involves teamwork and interaction with stakeholders.

  • Security Compliance: Understanding of security compliance standards and the ability to ensure servers meet regulatory requirements.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving skills to address any unexpected issues that may arise during server administration.

  • Certifications: Relevant certifications like Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer, or Microsoft Certified: Windows Server would be a plus.
